With the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, it seems like there’s never enough time to get everything done on the to do list. One thing that should not be overlooked, though, is safety. Here are some things to keep in mind when it comes to having a merry and safe holiday season.
During the winter holiday season according to the U.S. Fire Administration, home fires involving Christmas tress, holiday lights and other decorative light cause $25.2 million dollars in direct property damage each year.
Decorating your home for the holidays and even the decorations themselves can cause injuries, too. According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commision, an estimated 7,500 people are treated for injuries ranging from falls, cuts and shocks.
Also at this time of the year is an increase in numbers of burglaries. For criminals, the holiday presents the perfect opportunity to take advantage of distracted homeowners, shoppers and vacationers.
