Hailing from Portage, Indiana, Mathew Martinez recently graduated from PNC with an Elementary Education degree. Anxious to become a teacher, Matt applied himself diligently and consistently qualified for the dean’s list. He received Chancellor’s Semester Honors every semester he attended PNC. During his freshman year, Matt was recognized and received the Outstanding Student Award.
Like many PNC students, Matt was involved in many campus activities.
Captain of the basketball team for three years, Matt was a member of the 2005 Clarke College-All Tournament Team and an NAIA Scholar-Athlete all team. He was also active with the Dean’s Leadership Group, was Student Government treasurer, served as a member of FACE (Fine Arts, Convocations and Events), played on the intramural golf team and often volunteered to give campus tours to prospective PNC students and their parents. A member of the First Presbyterian Church in Portage, Matt tutored elementary students and has helped coordinate basketball clinics for beginning players.
Matt graduated with a 3.9 Grade Point Average.
