“My educational road took several turns. I had gone
to The Illinois Institute of Art in Chicago to study fashion
design. I came here to PNC and fell in love with the university.
My bachelor’s degree is in Liberal Studies.
I came here part-time for the first three years then
I jumped it up to full time. The convenient schedule
meant I could continue to work.
American Sign Language classes gave me the biggest
taste of diversity I have ever had–I took four
classes! One class attended public events where we had
to sign. We also enjoyed a group dinner-signing only!
In my Labor Relations course, we did “mock”
negotiations. We discussed insurance, tuition reimbursement,
wages and working conditions. This and other experiences
were so valuable.
I took advantage of the Career Development at PNC and
worked with Allison Thomas on my résumé
and career search.
I now work as an account representative for Foster
Printing in Michigan City. I am happy that my career
brings business and the arts together. I can go further
in my career and I will! I’m looking at the PNC
Saturday MBA.”
