Celebrate Student Success! The PNC Student Success Center sponsors the Outstanding Student of the Month program to promote success in and out of the classroom. For a student to be a well-respected citizen of the society, he/she must be able to balance many different areas of life. He/she must exemplify outstanding characteristics both as a student of PNC and as a citizen of the PNC community. The student must be able to handle many different aspects of student life while maintaining excellence in the classroom.
This program is designed to acknowledge students who excel in all phases of life. Students who have exemplified a commitment to the university and a desire to better serve the community should be recognized for their achievements. This award is designed to nominate and select students who promote and take pride in life and, especially, life at PNC.
NOMINATIONS
Nomination Criteria:
To be nominated as a SSC Outstanding Student of the Month, the candidate must be a current student at PNC. He/she must be an undergraduate student with at least 13 credit hours earned, maintain a 3.0 GPA without any incompletes. The student will exemplify character in and out of the classroom. A student cannot receive the award more than once within a semester.
Who Nominates?
Students will be nominated by PNC faculty, administration, and advisors. Faculty, Administrators, and Advisors, will be encouraged to nominate a student a student each month. Each month, faculty, administration, and advisors will be reminded of the nominations and sent a link to complete the online nomination application. The nomination form will allow him/her to explain and present his/her nomination for the award online. Each nominating member can only nominate one (1) student per month. Faculty, Administration, and Advisors must submit the online nomination application by the 1st of the month proceeding the month of recognition.
Nomination Form
The Faculty, Administrator, or Advisor must submit the SSC Outstanding Student of the Month form (online or print) to the Student Success Center by the 15th of each month.

Academic
Does the student prepare for classroom activities and goes above and beyond his/her role as a student?
Has the student upheld the values of PNC?
Citizenship
Is the student loyal to his/her college and PNC?
Does the student demonstrate a positive role model and help motivate other PNC students?
Does the student actively participate and put forth full effort within PNC?
Does the student demonstrate respect to the student body, staff, and faculty at PNC?
Professional Development
Does the student engage in academic development opportunities outside of the classroom?
Has the student demonstrated the ability to apply knowledge gained within the classroom?
Has the student volunteered at PNC or the community? Is he/she a member of a student club or organization? Doe the student hold a position on campus?
SELECTIONS
Selection Criteria
The selected student will rise above the criteria in all aspects of life. He/she will possess the highest of qualifications from the nominated students. He/she will have a balanced life exceeding all expectations of a student and citizen. He/she will exemplify outstanding characteristics both as a student and as a citizen of the PNC community. He/she must possess a strong academic standard showing respect to students, staff, and faculty. The chosen student will possess attributes needed for success in and out of the college classroom.
Who Selects?
A Selection Committee will pick the SSC Outstanding Student of the Month from the nominated students. All members of the Selection Committee will select the SSC Outstanding Student of the Month without bias. The Selection Committee will change every semester to allow the students and faculty on the committee to participate in the program. Therefore, present members are not allowed to nominate or be nominated. If the student committee members are nominated by a faculty member while either is serving on the committee, the nomination will not count towards the students two (2) allotted nominations. There will be a total of eight (8) students per year selected as a SSC Outstanding Student of the Month. One student for October, November, December, January, February, March, April, and May will be selected. The selected student will represent the ideals of the Student Success Center and PNC.
Selected Student
The selected student's picture and name will be showcased in the Student Success Center during the month of recognition. The student will also be highlighted in the monthly edition of the Student Success Newsletter along with a press release in his/her hometown newspaper. The Student Success Center will present an SSC Outstanding Student of the Month certificate and a picture of the student, nominating member, and administrative representative to the student. After selection, the student will present a biography to the Student Success Center ; a picture will be presented with the biography. The Student Success Center will have a plaque with individual name plates displaying the month and year the student won the award. At the end of the school year, the Selection Committee will choose a Student of the Year from the selected students. The Student Success Center will recognize all Outstanding Student of the Month winners and will present the Student of the Year with an award at the annual Awards Banquet.
