The Department of Social Sciences at Purdue University North Central is one of the largest and most diversified on campus. It features a variety of disciplines all related to human behavior, relationships, society, and culture, including Psychology, Sociology, History, Political Science, Philosophy, and Social Work.
Social Sciences Degree Programs
The Department offers three Bachelor Degree Programs including:
- Bachelor of Liberal Studies (B.L.S.), and
- Bachelor of Arts in Behavioral Science (B.A.B.S.)
- Bachelor of Art in Social Work (B.A.S.W.)
The B.L.S. is well known for its diversity of courses from which students may choose, the purpose of which is to design a curriculum to best suit their academic and career aspirations. The B.A.B.S. provides two concentrations: Psychology and Sociology. These two tracks prepare students for work in the field or for graduate school. The B.A.S.W. degree allows students to concentrate on Social Work and prepares students for work and for graduate school.
The Department is currently working on Bachelor's degrees in History and Psychology and a Master's degree in Liberal Studies.
