Chancellor’s Leadership Scholarships

The Chancellor’s Leadership Award is a renewable scholarship designed to recognize high school seniors and continuing Purdue University North Central (PNC) students who have a record of academic achievement and who have demonstrated leadership qualities and potential through involvement in school and community activities. Each award will provide a minimum of $1,000 per academic year ($500 per semester) and is renewable for $1000 ($500 per semester) for each following year of attendance, for a maximum of four years renewal.

Initial eligibility for the Chancellor’s Leadership Award includes:

  • Currently a high school senior or have graduated within six months prior to application for award; or
  • Admitted to PNC and/or currently enrolled at PNC with at least two full years of attendance remaining
  • Minimum 2.50 grade point average; and
  • Documented evidence of school and community engagement, including but not limited to, service learning
  • Priority will be given to applicants who commit to completion of a four-year degree at Purdue University North Central

A complete application consists of:

  • An Applicant Information Form
  • Activities, Interest and Involvement Form
  • One letter of reference, school or community, documenting school and/or community involvements, and two additional references listed on application with contact information given
  • An essay of 300 – 500 words, not to exceed two double spaced pages, on the importance of
    campus/community engagement and your plan for involvement at PNC
  • Evidence of having been admitted to, or enrolled in, PNC.
  • Awarding of the scholarship will be based on leadership, scholarship and a personal interview.

To be eligible for renewal of this award an applicant will be required to present evidence of:

  • Completion of the Chancellor’s Leadership Seminar during first fall of enrollment
  • Completion of a minimum of 30 credit hours per academic year
  • A minimum 2.50 cumulative grade point average; and
  • Evidence of active engagement in campus and community activities.
  • Scholarship renewal may be denied if not actively participating in campus activities, and refund of scholarship may be requested

Expectations: It is expected that Chancellor’s Leadership Scholars will

  • Attend the weekly Chancellor’s Leadership Seminar the first fall following the initial award.
  • Actively participate in the weekly Dean’s Leadership Group Meetings;
  • Provide a minimum of 50 service hours per semester, a minimum of 30 hours to the University through campus/community activities, and 20 hours which can be given to an outside organization; and
  • Attend general meetings/events with the Chancellor’s Leadership Seminar/Dean’s Leadership Group.
  • Scholarship renewal may be denied if not actively participating in campus activities, and refund of scholarship may be requested.

Chicago Southshore and South Bend Railroad Chancellor’s Leadership Scholarship

This fund was established in July 2005 with a gift by the Chicago Southshore and South Bend Railroad. Income will be used for the Chancellor’s Leadership Scholarships for Purdue North Central undergraduates.


Family Express Corporation Chancellor’s Leadership Scholarship

This fund was established in September 2007 with a gift by the Family Express Corporation. Income will be used for the Chancellor’s Leadership Scholarships for Purdue North Central undergraduates.


First Trust Federal Credit Union Chancellor’s Leadership Scholarship

This fund was established in January 2003 with a gift by the First Trust Federal Credit Union (a.k.a. La-Porter Federal Credit Union). Income will be used for the Chancellor’s Leadership Scholarships for Purdue North Central undergraduates.


Follett Higher Education Group Chancellor’s Leadership Scholarship

This fund was established in November 2006 with a gift by the Follett Higher Education Group. Income will be used for the Chancellor’s Leadership Scholarships for Purdue North Central undergraduates.


Horizon Bank Chancellor’s Leadership Scholarship

This fund was established in January 2003 with a gift by the Horizon Bank. Income will be used for the Chancellor’s Leadership Scholarships for Purdue North Central undergraduates from low to moderate income families in La Porte County or Porter County, Indiana.


The LaPorte Savings Bank Chancellor’s Leadership Scholarship

This fund was established in May 2003 with a gift by The LaPorte Savings Bank.


Northern Indiana Public Service Company Chancellor’s Leadership Scholarship

This fund was established in October 2007 with a gift by the Northern Indiana Public Service Company. Income will be used for the Chancellor’s Leadership Scholarships for Purdue North Central undergraduates.


Solid Waste District of LaPorte County Chancellor’s Leadership Scholarship

This fund was established in July 2005 with a gift by the Solid Waste District of La Porte County. Income will be used for the Chancellor’s Leadership Scholarships for Purdue North Central undergraduates.
