Robert Gaekle

Chief of Police Robert E. Gaekle

Chief Gaekle has been with the Police Department since November 1994, after 23 years of service with the LaPorte City Police, where he was a Captain. Chief Gaekle advocates customer service and community policing.

Robert Segally

Officer Robert Segally

Officer Segally has been with the Police Department since August 1999 after 28.5 years of service with the Griffith Police Department. He also served for 22 years with the Griffith Public Schools as “Officer Friendly” and as a “D.A.R.E.” instructor.

Wayne Utterback

Officer Wayne D. Utterback

Officer Utterback has been with the Campus Police since April 2001. Utterback served 35.5 years with the Valparaiso Police Department as a lieutenant and the last year as station commander.

Victor Santiago

Sergeant Victor Santiago

Sergeant Santiago joined the Campus Police July 2010. Prior to PNC he was Sergeant of Patrol for Valparaiso University Campus Police 4.5 years, 19 years with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources as Head of Security at Dunes State Park and 10 years as a Porter County Sheriffs Reserve Officer.

Walter Day

Officer Walter L. Day

Officer Day has been with the Campus Police Department since January 2, 2008, after over 31 years of service with the Michigan City Police Department, where he retired as a Corporal. He also served as Drug Abuse Resistance Education and Gang Resistance Education And Training (D.A.R.E. and G.R.E.A.T.) Instructor and Coordinator in the Michigan City Area Schools.

John Mucha

Officer John Mucha

Officer Mucha joined the Campus Police Department in June 2011. Prior to PNC, he served as a Patrolman with the East Chicago Police Department for approximately 5 years. After serving the community of East Chicago, Indiana, he joined the United States Federal Air Marshal Service, working as a United States Federal Air Marshal conducting counter terrorism/counter surveillance missions for 2 years, and also served as a Special Agent/Investigator/Instructor for the CSX Railroad Police Department for 5.5 years.

Officer Scherer

Officer Terry Scherer

Officer Scherer joined the Campus Police Department in March, 2012.  Prior to PNC, he served on the LaPorte City Police Department for 31.5 years. He retired in January, 2012 after serving as Chief of Police. Before becoming Chief, he served in both the Patrol and Detective Divisions. Prior to LaPorte City Police, he served for 3.5 years on the Westville Police Department.

Police Dispatcher Sue Zahn

Dispatcher Zahn has been with the Campus Police since November 2000. Zahn is a former Emergency Services Dispatcher with the Moon Twp., Pennsylvania Police Department, and a former legal and executive secretary.
