The mission of the Purdue University North Central Community Emergency Response Team is to provide a trained pool of personnel – faculty and staff – to help the University respond to and recover from emergency events.
Training for CERT – provided by Michigan City (Indiana) Emergency Management – includes basic life support techniques, recognition of types of hazardous materials, and how to treat various life threatening emergencies. The team also learns to perform fire safety analysis and suppression and light search and rescue.
