Biology and Chemistry Department
Students who want an excellent science education with outstanding teachers, small classes and opportunities to take part in interesting and significant research can find those things at Purdue University North Central.
Our full-time faculty members are well-known in their fields. They are here because they want to work with undergraduates. They go out of their way to offer students the opportunity to learn and grow in the sciences. PNC's Biology and Chemistry faculty focus on the environment of Indiana to let student research flow easily from project to project throughout the educational experience.
Bachelor's Degrees
Degree choices include a Bachelor of Science in General Biology and a Bachelor of Science in Biology with concentration in: ecology and environmental biology, microbiology, biochemistry, pre-dentistry, pre-medicine (including optometry and physical therapy), or pre-veterinary medicine. A minor in Ecology and a minor in Chemistry for biology majors is also available. For more information on degree programs and courses, see the PNC General Catalog under Science Division.
Transfer Programs
The Biology/Chemistry Department offers programs specifically for transfer to programs not available on our campus. These include two programs, Agriculture and Pre-Pharmacy.
Agriculture
Purdue North Central does not offer a Bachelor Degree in Agriculture. However, students may elect to complete a general suggested one-year course of study at Purdue North Central before transferring to a West Lafayette Campus program.
Pre-Pharmacy
Pharmacy majors may only be completed at Purdue's West Lafayette Campus. Admission to the Doctor of Pharmacy program requires a two-year sequence of pre-requisites which may be taken at Purdue North Central. Completion of these pre-requisites does not guarantee admission to the School of Pharmacy.
