The regular student loan period for books is three weeks. Purdue faculty may check out regularly circulating books for a semester. Books may be renewed for another three weeks by telephoning extension 5248 at any one of the following numbers: 785-5248, 872-0527, or 462-4197. However, books cannot be renewed if another patron has requested that the book be held for him or her. If you do renew a book by phone, please tell a library staff member the call number of the book.
The loan period for reserve books is set by professorial stipulation and, therefore, varies. A library staff member can advise you on these regulations.
Some heavily used library materials have restricted loans. All reference books and bound periodical volumes are for library use only.
Current periodical issues are on two-day loan, and vertical file materials circulate for one week.
All books and periodicals should be returned to the General Information and Circulation Desk during regular library hours. However, there is a book drop outside the entrance to the library.
If library materials are not returned or renewed within the loan period, the borrower is sent an overdue notice. Should the materials not be returned, the academic records of delinquent students will be encumbered until the overdue material is returned or payment for lost materials is made. Borrowers are charged for the replacement cost of materials plus a non-refundable $5 encumbrance fee. All fees are paid at the Bursar's Office in Schwarz Hall.
