Proposed Lab Software Changes

General Info

Information Services has proposed making the following changes to the lab software configurations for the Fall 2013 semester.

Anyone with an interest in the configuration and use of the student labs is invited to comment. Please address your comments and requests to Jason Inman, Director of IT User Experience.

Also, please note that each request for a new software title must be accompanied by a proof-of-license for the number of computers on which the requested software is to be installed.

Testing Process Timeline:

01 Jul (Mon) – Testing Begins
04 July (Thu) – Independence Day Holiday
02 Aug (Fri) – Testing Ends
23 Aug (Fri) – All Labs Updated w/New Lab Load
26 Aug (Mon) – Fall Semester Classes Begin

Load Changes effective for Fall 2013
Base Image
  • Added Microsoft Office 2013 – NOTE: Microsoft Office 2010 is still available on image. Microsoft Office 2013 is set as the default program.
  • Updated Maple 14 to Maple 17
  • Updated Firefox and Chrome to latest release
  • Any available Adobe Shockwave, Flash, and Reader updates
  • Any available Anti-virus updates
  • Any available Windows 7 security patches & updates
CAD Image
  • Updated Autodesk 2012 to Autodesk 2013 (CAD Image only)
  • Updated LabView 2012 to LabView 2013 (CAD Image only)
  • Updated SolidWorks 2012 to SolidWorks 2013 (CAD Image only)
