Bachelor's Degree in Construction Engineering and Management Technology

Program Educational Objectives

Graduates of the Baccalaureate Degree in Construction Engineering and Management Technology program, in addition to the listed competencies for the associate degree in Building Construction Management Technology, shall:

  • Understand construction processes and construction systems and shall be able to use this understanding in the preparation of construction drawings using appropriate software.
  • Be able to perform an economic analysis for financial decision making to support construction management as well as cost estimates related to design, construction, and maintenance of systems in construction technical specialties.
  • Have the appropriate background to select proper construction materials and practices.
  • Have a working knowledge of the principles of construction law and ethics.
  • Be able to apply basic technical concepts to the solution of construction problems involving hydraulics and hydrology, geotechnical, and structural systems.
  • Have effective communication skills both oral and written and excellent interpersonal skills to support their management role in the construction industry.
  • Be able to schedule a construction project using a scheduling software package and manage the project effectively and safely.
  • Have the initiative to assume responsibility and successfully function individually or as a team member.
