Program Entry Requirements for Education Program
at Purdue University North Central
(Effective Spring 2012)
For All Programs:
- Teacher Education Applications MUST BE SUBMITTED
- Program Applications are available above
- Due in the Education Office by July 1st for Fall Admission and Nov. 1st for Spring Admission
- Cannot be submitted electronically
- Incomplete applications will not be accepted
- Official approval must be granted before enrolling in Block I courses (EDCI 205 AND EDCI 285)
- Cumulative GPA of at least 2.5 or above
- Successful completion and official verification of PRAXIS I or of an approved Alternate Method by July 1st for Fall Admission and Nov. 1st for Spring Admission
Elementary Education Program:
- Successful completion with a grade of "C" or better in BIO 205, ENG 101 and MA 137 or MA 139, and any Education courses completed.
- Official approval for program admission must be granted before enrolling in Block I courses (EDCI 205 and EDCI 285)
Early Childhood Education Program:
*Please note that admission for the Early Childhood Education program only occurs in the Fall semesters.
- Successful completion with a grade of "C" or better in BIO 205, ENG 101, MA 137 or MA 139, PSY 120, PSY 235, EDST 270, EDCI 276, and any other Education courses completed.
- Official approval for program admission must be granted before enrolling in Strand II courses (EDPS 236 and EDPS 276).
Secondary Education Programs:
- Successful completion with a grade of "C" or better in ENG 101, EDCI 105, and any Education courses completed.
- Official approval for program admission must be granted before enrolling in beginning Education courses (excluding EDCI 205).
