Subject: Working and Taking a Class During Student Teaching

Student teaching is a full time responsibility. During student teaching, the student is expected to devote full attention to teaching in the assigned school. No student should work or take classes at the University during the student teaching experience. If employment is an absolute necessity, it should be kept to a minimum and confined to weekends only.

If working is judged by the University supervisor to be interfering with the student teaching experience, then the student teacher will have to terminate the job or the student teaching experience.

There shall be no employment interviews or specific campus responsibilities that will require the student to be absent from student teaching. Occasionally there will be seminars for the student teacher to attend on campus. These are mandatory seminars that are part of the entire student teaching experience.
