READING ADDITION TO THE UNDERGRADUATE

ELEMENTARY EDUCATION TEACHING LICENSE

 

 

 

The Education Department has good news to share with you.  We have been approved by the Division of Professional Standards to offer the Reading addition to your teaching license!  With this addition to your K-6 license, you will be qualified to teach in a Title I or reading resource classroom.  In order to add this to your license you will need to submit an application which you may obtain by clicking on the link below.  Other requirements include:

 

  • Completion of the program for Elementary Education

  • Completion of EDCI 311, 362 and 363 earning a B or higher.  Candidates currently enrolled in EDCI 363 may conditionally apply before the course is completed if all other requirements are met.

  • Receiving satisfactory Field Experience evaluations in EDCI 362 and 363.

  • Statement of intent which includes why you want to participate in this program and why you believe you should be accepted into it.

  • One letter of recommendation from a PNC Reading faculty member.

  • One letter of recommendation from a current classroom teacher

  • Taking EDCI 408 - Advanced Literacy Instruction.

  • Taking EDCI 409 – Student Teaching Seminar in Literacy during your student teaching semester.            

Applications must be submitted and approved before registration in EDCI 408 is allowed.
