Excellence in Instruction Workshop Descriptions

Blackboard & Best Practices
Through this workshop you will review how to use the features available in Blackboard and how to build and conduct your course in alignment with the 7 Principles of Good Teaching. Instructors with previous experience in using WebCT Vista 3, Blackboard Vista 4 or other course management systems will benefit from this workshop.
Blackboard Vista Users' Group
Have some ideas about how you are using Blackboard's features that you would like to share with others? What pedagogical value have you found in implementing a course management sytem into your face-to-face class? We'd like to hear your thoughts. Interested in how your colleagues are using Blackboard? Then this users' group is for you! Come and share in an informal brown bag lunch session, the good, the bad, and the ugly of your experiences with Blackboard! Open to all faculty -- even if you are currently not using Blackboard but interested in learning what others have to say about it!
Creating and Administering "eAssignments

From creating an assignment to grading it, the Assignment Tool does it all. Learn how to use Vista 4’s new feature, Grading Forms, with your eAssignments to really streamline this paperless process!

Any instructor wishing to save the trees should attend! But, previous experience with Blackboard Vista 4 or attendance at an introductory training session is a prerequisite for successful learning in this session.

Evaluating Online Discussions: Quantity vs. Quality
This session will consider both quantitative and qualitative methods of evaluating online discussions based on features available in the Blackboard system.

If you are using the discussion board for online discussions in your course or are considering doing so, and would like to explore ways of evaluating your students' participation activity, then this session is for you.

Mastering the Grade Book

Students appreciate being able to check their grades online. Blackboard’s grade book offers instructors a tool for recording student grades and calculating averages for student overall performance.

Attend this session if you would like to learn all about Blackboard’s grade book tool.
