Services for Faculty

Faculty Development Workshops/Training

Consultation and training are available to assist instructors in choosing the best tools for instructional goals, to answer technical questions, and to develop course projects or online courses.

Introduction to Blackboard

This workshop is for those who need to learn the basics about Blackboard. Participants will learn how to do the initial setup of the course, using the Build and Teach tabs, putting a syllabus in Blackboard, and navigating the site. If you want to put your syllabus in Blackboard, bring a copy on a flash drive, or have it available on the I: drive.

Blackboard Features I

Building on the information presented in the Introduction class, this workshop expands on the features of the Build and Teach tabs. Creating discussions, assessments, assignments and quizzes/tests will be covered in this workshop.

Blackboard Features II

This workshop is a continuation of the Features I workshop. Managing groups and group assignments, the chat feature, and the gradebook will be features of this workshop.

Respondus

Respondus is software that is used to create quizzes and tests that are subsequently uploaded to Blackboard. The Respondus software is easier to use than creating quizzes and tests directly in Blackboard.

Pedagogy of Online Learning

How do you convert your classroom-based course to an on-line course? What is the difference between lecturing to students on-campus and teaching the same material on-line? How do I get my course on-line? These questions and more will be answered during this session.

Workshop Registration

All Workshops will be held in Tech 298. Use the link above to register for a class. There is a limit of 18 people per session.
