Screencorder 5 allows you to record desktop activity while adding step-by-step audio instructions and graphic call-outs, such as speech bubbles or arrows.  This is a great way to give demonstrations to your students.  These “screencords” can be easily uploaded into Blackboard for immediate student access.

What is JING?

JING allows you to record desktop activity with your voiceover, just like Screencorder.  However, JING does not produce media files that you have to upload to Blackboard.  Instead, it produces a link for your video and all viewers have to do is simply click on that link to view it.  It is stored privately in your free web-based library.  Once you create a free account, you have 2G of storage a month and can create as many videos as you need.  With the free version, there is a 5 minute time limit per video, but you can always create a series of videos to deliver your instruction.

If you are interested in using ScreenCorder, contact the helpdesk at #5511 or send request to helpdesk@pnc.edu.  IS will install the software on your campus computer (check first to see if it is already installed), and you are ready to go!
