  • More Faculty Adopt iClickers        Return to E-Newsletter

Additional faculty are planning to adopt iClickers for the upcoming spring, summer, and fall 2013 semesters.  Faculty from nursing, biology, and FYE are excited to integrate this new tool into their curriculum.  In September and October, PNC's iClicker representative, Cathy Mertz, visited the PNC campus to help provide demonstrations and onboard these new faculty with this intuitive classroom performance system.  Cathy shared her knowledge and expertise about the new iClicker updates, capabilities, and applications for use.  In addition, the Office of Learning and Technology was joined by Dr. Jason Curtis as they hosted an informative webcast and workshop that aimed to highlight the benefits of integrating the iClicker system, as well as the steps to get started.

Research illustrates that students’ grades, accomplishment of learning outcomes, and interest in subject matter as well as amount of reading that occurs prior to coming to class all increase when clickers are effectively used, especially in large lecture classes.

Although these systems are becoming increasingly popular in higher education, most research has targeted their affective benefits, which include greater student engagement, increased student interest, and heightened discussion and interactivity,” (Martin, 2007)
