Web Conferencing
Adobe Connect Professional
Adobe Connect is software used for Web Conferencing. You can use it in various ways. You can either create a presentation, with audio, video or Powerpoint slides (or all three) and post it on a site for your students to view. Such presentations are a good way to create an introduction and/or lectures for an online course. They can also be used to supplement an on-campus or hybrid course. The system is easy to learn and you can edit the presentation after it is completed. To explore the possibilities or log into the Purdue adobe web site, click here. If you want more general information about Adobe products clik on the Adobe Web site.
Adobe Presenter
The Presenter software from Adobe gives you the opportunity to include audio files along with your Powerpoint slides. To use it, you download software that is a plug-in for Microsoft Powerpoint. Using such software allows you to create Powerpoint slides that are more interesting to students, and can be used for training, online courses, or any other purpose where audio will enhance the effect of your presentation.
Quizzing/Student Response Tools
eInstruction Classroom Performance System
The eInstruction Classroom Performance System can add interactivity to any size class and provide real time feedback on student performance. The system consists of a radio frequency receiver in the classroom and response pads in the hands of the students. Students can purchase the response pads through the bookstore. Using the receiver and the response pads, instructors can give short quizzes, take attendance, play learning games and that's just a few of the ways eInstruction can be utilized. |

Respondus
Respondus is a powerful software application for managing and creating exams. Exams can be printed or published directly to Blackboard Vista. Tests can be built using a word processor and easily imported into the Respondus application. For instructions on how to download and install Respondus on your computer please see the PNC Respondus Instruction Page.
Respondus Lockdown Browser
Respondus Lockdown Browser works with Blackboard to allow an instructor to give exams and quizzes online, yet prevents students from using other Web sites or other software on the PC during the test. For more information about Respondus Lockdown Browser and instructions on how to use it, see the PNC Respondus Lockdown Browser Page.
Anti-Plagiarism Software
SafeAssign
Purdue now subscribes to the SafeAssign software which functions in a manner similar to the TurnItIn sofware that was used in the past. SafeAssign allows a professor to determine whether all or part of a paper is plagiarized. More information about SafeAssign can be found at the Purdue Web site for Safe Assign. There are two ways you can use SafeAssign. It can be used either through Blackboard, by setting up a SafeAssign Assignment or you can use the Direct Submit procedure. Purdue Calumet has an excellent web page with all the instructions you need for either method of using SafeAssign. Please see their SafeAssign Page.
