System Upgrade- June 9, 2012 Resources

Recently Purdue upgraded to a newer version of Adobe Connect.  It has been completely rewritten for greater stability and improved usability.  Below you will find a general Q & A section provided through WL that attempts to address many of the inquiries brought forth by this upgrade.

What do I need to do?

You don’t need to worry about the recordings and content you currently have in Connect.  Those will remain unchanged.  After the upgrade, the content you currently have in your meeting rooms will be right where you left it.

However, there are a few differences in how the new version of Connect looks, and some of the buttons and controls have moved.  After the upgrade, please log in to one of your meeting rooms and familiarize yourself with the new look and feel.

What changes will I notice?

Style: The main layout is the same, but the window styling has changed:

Moved settings: Settings and preferences for each pod, which used to be accessed via individual settings menus in the lower right corner of each pod, have been consolidated into a single Preferences dialog box:

Camera and Voice: Audio and video sharing controls have been consolidated at the top of the screen, with simple on/off toggle switches for each.

Control for your own speakers has also been added:

A camera preview mode has been added.  When you turn on your camera, you’ll see a preview before you start sharing the image publicly:

Layout controls moved: Layout buttons are on the right side of the screen rather than the bottom, and now include thumbnail representations:

Attendee List Changes:  The attendee list now functions as the breakout control pod as well.  Toggle between attendee list and breakout view with buttons at the top of the pod:

Note: There is no longer a button which turns on the presenter-only area.  You have to go to the Meeting menu to do so.

Chat enhancements: Tabbed chats have been added, making it easier to chat with multiple individuals during a session:

Notes pod changes:

·         You can now change the color of notes and use bold or italic font.

·         Bulleted lists have been added

·         There is a new “export to .rtf” feature
