DISCOVER Online is a career exploration program. This program is available for use by students through any computer with an Internet connection.
It is strongly recommended that all students take advantage of this FREE and valuable resource. Whether you are undecided in your major, or have declared a major area of study and career path, you will find DISCOVER to be helpful in defining your thoughts and gaining valuable career information.
DISCOVER is based on a personal inventory evaluation of your interests, abilities, and values. The results of these inventories will generate a list of occupations, as well as majors, that are a good match for you. These personal inventories can be taken in one of two ways:
1. DISCOVER ONLINE - The inventory questions are printed in the section DISCOVER ONLINE. Follow the directions for downloading the answer sheet and then complete the questionnaire. You may do this from any computer, but you still must have an ID# to log them into the program and get the results.
2. E-DISCOVER - The inventories are taken when you have actually logged into the program after obtaining your ID# from the Dean of Students' Office.
It is to your advantage to make an appointment for your initial introduction into the system and for interpretation of your personal inventories. You will then be instructed on how to use the program quickly and easily in order to gain the information you are most interested in. The length of your visit depends on your personal needs and requests.
A USER ID# is required to gain access to the program. This is obtained through the Dean of Students' Office. Students may speak with the DISCOVER coordinator, Allana Burke, before or after completing the career exploration inventories to ensure that students understand the results.
Call 1-800-872-1231, ext. 5284 to get a USER ID.
