Information Services - What is a Desktop Account?

Information Services Links

When you are addmitted to Purdue North Central, Information Services automatically establishes an account for you on our computer network. Your account gives you access to certain network services and to your email. Your account will remain available to you as long as you are a continuing student at PNC.

  • Your network account provides you with file storage space on our student server and allows you to print your work in the computer labs. You may access your account from any computer in the student labs (T265, T164), the Writing Center (T359), instructional labs (S216, LSF 243, T11, T215, T219, T297, T308, T353), or from any computer off campus with an internet connected web browser. See the Sign On page to see how to log on.
  • Email allows you to communicate electronically on campus and around the globe. Some instructors may require you to use email to send and receive class assignments and other information. (See Student Guides and Help for links to information on how to access WebMail).

    User Name and Passwords

  • Once created, your user name will not change.
  • You should change your password often. (See how to create a good password on our passwords page).

    Your Email Address

Your email address is your user name followed by @pnc.edu
    (Ex: msmith01@pnc.edu)

    Account Security

It is important that you keep your password private. Others can access your account without your knowledge if they discover your password. We strongly recommend you change your password as soon as you receive your user name and initial password. Thereafter, you should change your password on a regular basis.

    Where to Get Help

The main student lab, located in the Technology building, room 265, offers access to your account on over 100 machines. A lab assistant is available when the lab is open to help you set up and use your account.

For links to instructions and complete information on student accounts, email, and other lab policies and procedures, see the  Information Services' main page at www.pnc.edu/is

If you have any questions, concerns or suggestions, please feel free to email the Lab Coordinator.
