Job Description 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Provide superior customer service by helping all users of the computer lab logon, change passwords, become conversant with lab computer operations and programs.
- Be a resource for customers and fellow lab assistants.
- Promote a professional, yet friendly and helpful academic environment.
- Attend training sessions and staff meetings.
- Be responsible for opening/closing lab on time and for working scheduled hours.
- Assist, participate
and/or present at the Edge sessions, Open House activities, and Student Orientation
- Document
any student questions we handle; including
hardware, system and software problems via a Tracking log
- Become acquainted and work with the IS Help Desk and Lab Technicians
- Attempt to diagnose computer-related problems
- Become familiarized with lab policies and ensure the rules are followed
OTHER DUTIES:
- Communicate with Student Computer Lab Coordinator to ensure reliability of lab equipment and network connections.
- Assist in creating/updating lab assistant manual.
- Monitor, log and replace supplies as needed (i.e. printer paper, toner cartridges, staples).
- Answer lab telephone.
- Take headcount twice per hour.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Positive attitude and desire to assist other students.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Enrollment in at least one PNC class per semester.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Aptitude to learn about computer hardware and software.
- Computer experience is a plus, but not required.
HOURS:
The student lab is open seven days per week when class is in session. Daily hours vary by semester according to students' needs. (See the most recent lab hours on the Web at http://www.pnc.edu/is/lab_hours.htm )
We will work with you to come up with a schedule which is mutually beneficial. We do prefer you are available for at least 10 hours per week. The maximum hours you may work per week is 40.
