Information Services - Proposed Lab Software Changes

General Info

Information Services has proposed, and the Academic Computing Advisory Committee (ACAC) has approved, making the following changes to the lab software configurations for the Spring 2012 semester.

Anyone with an interest in the configuration and use of the student labs is invited to comment. Please address your comments and requests to either Glen Piper or your ACAC representative.

Also, please note that each request for a new software title must be accompanied by a proof-of-license for the number of computers on which the requested software is to be installed.

Testing Process Timeline:

Nov 21 - Testing Begins
Nov 24-27 - Thanksgiving Break
Dec 9 - Last Day of Classes
Dec 16 - Last Day of Exams
Dec 21 - Testing Ends
Jan 6 - All Labs Updated with New Lab Load
Jan 9 - Spring Semester Classes Begin

Proposed Changes for Spring 2012

Load Changes effective for Spring 2012

  • The following changes were made to fix problems during the Fall 2011 semester include:

    Development and testing of tweaks and optimizations to the new Windows 7 load to improve system load times and overall system performance

  • Planned changes and additions for Spring 2012 (to date):
    1) Windows 7 load optimizations pushed out to all
    2) Any available Adobe Shockwave, Flash, and Reader updates
    3) Any available Anti-virus updates
    4) Any available Windows 7 security patches and updates
