How To Study

Discovering Digital Photography
Let our visiting artist help you unravel the mystery of digital photography.  Geared for beginners and amateur photographers, this course addresses photographic fundamentals and creative techniques that help you get great shots. Learn to understand and make friends with your camera. Discover the proper method of holding and operating your digital camera. Then get going with taking pictures!  Explore the fundamentals of basic photography composition, depth of field and exposure control.  Discover how lighting can change the mood of your subject. These skills will add a whole new dimension to your photos.  Also learn how to analyze and troubleshoot problem digital photographs to determine root causes and how to overcome them.  Be sure to bring your camera along!

Digital Photography-Take 2 ...... NEW!!
Now that you and your camera are best friends take your digital photography skills to a higher level.  This course is designed for the amateur photographer who wants to explore lighting, color, texture, shutter speeds, lens selection, advanced composition, black and white photography, and other subject matter to achieve a solid grounding in both technical and creative photographic processes.  Learn how to analyze and troubleshoot problem digital photographs to determine root causes and how to overcome them. 

Digital Darkroom
Learn the skills that are redefining photography today. PNC's visiting artist will help you create photos that get noticed! Once you have captured your subject learn how to take that image out of your camera's memory and manipulate it. This class uses Photoshop CS2 to do things like remove red-eye, change colors, and much, much more. Take your photo memories from good to GREAT!

The ART of Drawing with Charcoal ...... NEW!!

Golf “Fore” Beginners
This Class is held at the Clubhouse in Michigan City.
Learn from our pro! Golf is a fun and relaxing way to get outside and enjoy the weather. This class will get you started. You will learn to swing both drivers and irons, how to avoid slicing and hooking, and proper stance. You’ll be on the course before you know it. Golfballs and clubs are provided, or you may bring your own. On rainy days, make-up sessions will be scheduled. The first class meets rain or shine. Class size is limited to 10 students, so don’t wait to register!

This testing is at the Westville Campus.
Did you know that you can test out of C&IT 107, Computer Literacy, and still receive 3 credits? If you already feel comfortable with your computer skills, talk to your advisor about taking this test and save yourself some time and money. It's a great way to get 3 credits.

Registration Fee: $50 ~ Tech room 134 at 10am or 6pm. You are allowed 3 hours to complete the exam.

Scrapbooking and Card Making ...... NEW!!
Expand your horizons, explore fun new techniques and try something completely different. This class is a great way to learn something new, meet others who share your interest in scrapbooking and to do something fun for yourself. You will learn basic design layouts, techniques to make personalized albums, including journaling, the different kinds of albums, photo cropping, and how to use embellishments. One class will be devoted to making greeting cards using scrapbooking techniques

Introduction to the Art of Stained Glass ...... NEW!!
This beginner stained glass course is for those who have never worked with stained glass, or for those who have a very elementary knowledge. You will learn how to cut glass, how to work with copper foil and the proper way to solder. You will also learn patterns and styles of window design. Be introduced to all of the tools of the trade, as well as most of the materials and various types of glass. When you have completed this course you will have a finished project to show for it, as well as a mastery of the basic skills used in the craft of stained glass

Ghosts and Ghost Tracking
Do you believe in ghosts? If so, do you want to learn more about paranormal research and the history of hauntings? And if you don’t believe, then you will learn about ghost-tracking methods and findings, and you will become a well-informed skeptic. This course will provide you with an overview of hauntings, paranormal research, and the basics of ghost tracking in the field. The course will conclude with a visit to an alleged haunted location.

Learn what goes where and why.  Learn the basics of gathering site data, accurate base plans, effective plant selection, planting designs, basic grading and drainage, and planning various landscape elements.
