SAT Review in the Classroom
Be better prepared for the SAT. These classes will
help you anticipate the types of questions you will
see on the exam, give you tips on how to use time
most efficiently and show you techniques for identifying
wrong answers to improve your test score. These classes
do not teach content; PNC’s classes focus on
how best to approach a test such as this and give
you guidance in the practical skills you need for
the SAT.
The SAT Review for Math and Verbal/Written Sections will be held at Valparaiso High School. Please contact the Continuing Education office for more information. Seats are reserved for VHS students first. Remaining seats will be given to other students on a first come, first served basis.

SAT/ACT Preparation-Online Course
So, you’ve decided you’re going to college. Now you just need to take the entrance exams! This online course is designed to prepare you for the subject specific sections of either test. Part I is designed to prepare you for the reading, English, and science sections of the ACT and the critical reading and writing sections of the SAT. Part II reviews arithmetic, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and statistics. You'll refresh your knowledge of the topics and learn techniques that can help you relieve test-taking anxiety. Floral Studio Fundamentals Get ready to be stimulated and break out ot the winter doldrums! It's time to learn about and practice the basics of floral design. Discovering Digital Photography (Level 1)
Let our visiting artist help you unravel the mystery of digital photography. Geared for beginners and amateur photographers, this course addresses photographic fundamentals and creative techniques that help you get great shots. Learn to understand and make friends with your camera. Discover the proper method of holding and operating your digital camera. Then get going with taking pictures! Explore the fundamentals of basic photography composition, depth of field and exposure control. Discover how lighting can change the mood of your subject. These skills will add a whole new dimension to your photos. Also learn how to analyze and troubleshoot problem digital photographs to determine root causes and how to overcome them. Digital Photography-Take 2 (Level 2)
Now that you and your camera are best friends take your digital photography skills to a higher level. This course is designed for the amateur photographer who wants to explore lighting, color, texture, shutter speeds, lens selection, advanced composition, black and white photography, and other subject matter to achieve a solid grounding in both technical and creative photographic processes. Learn how to analyze and troubleshoot problem digital photographs to determine root causes and how to overcome them.

Advanced Digital Photography - Take 3 (Level 3) Want to explore the outdoors with your digital camera? This class will spend the majority of time outdoors concentrating on photographing landscapes, water and floral scenes on the campus at Westville. Students will have exercises that include the use of a tripod, polarizing filter, close-up work, rendering clouds and sunsets for maximum dramatic effect, using depth of field, color adjustments and exposure compensation. Also included will be special instructions on printing, mounting and presenting your work. Students should dress appropriately for these outdoor sessions which may include walking around a large area and possibly getting down on the ground to capture the right perspective.

Prerequisite: Familiar with computer basics and already using digital cameras. No prior Photoshop required.
Learn how to use Adobe Photoshop CS2 to touch up and manipulate your digital photos, create special effects, add text, and prepare photos for e-mail and the web. Adobe's powerful tools let you create, design, and make your photos stand out!

Vegetable Gardening If you have a sunny deck, patio or plot, you can grow vegetables that are "fresh from the garden", tasty, nutritious and beautiful. Learn the basics of successful vegetable gardening from a Purdue Advanced Master Gardener. In this course, you'll learn how to provide healthy and fertile soil, choose disease-resistant plant varieties and care for them until they're ready for your table.

You're On the Air... How to Make it in Voice-Overs! Join us and learn about an exciting, new way to get around the competition and actually turn voice-overs into a thriving full or part-time business! in this course you will learn from an experienced broadcaster and professional voice-over specialist about the industry's opportunities, the structure of advertising, how to make a demo, the kinds of voices in demand, and most importantly - methods for finding work. You will be introduced to the voice-over business as a whole, talk about the numerous opportunities, the income potential, and the all-important demo and how to have it produced. Portrait Drawing (Level 2)

Basic Mosaic
Don't know what to do with those left-over ceramic tiles and chipped or cracked china, maybe you have some pebbles, sea shells, or buttons you don't want to part with - bring them to our Basic Mosaic class and recycle them!! You will make a beautiful 12" x 12" panel that will be ready to hang when you are finished. You will learn to throw nothing away and that the possibilities for all those scraps are all but endless.

Golf “Fore” Beginners This Class is held at the Clubhouse in Michigan City.
Learn from our pro! Golf is a fun and relaxing way to
get outside and enjoy the weather. This class will get
you started. You will learn to swing both drivers and
irons, how to avoid slicing and hooking, and proper
stance. You’ll be on the course before you know it.
Golfballs and clubs are provided, or you may bring
your own. On rainy days, make-up sessions will be
scheduled. The first class meets rain or shine. Class size

Introduction to the Art of Stained Glass
This beginner stained glass course is for those who have never worked with stained glass, or for those who have a very elementary knowledge. You will learn how to cut glass, how to work with copper foil and the proper way to solder. You will also learn patterns and styles of window design. EVP-Electronic Voice Phenomena
Electronic Voice Phenomena (EVP) concerns unexpected voices found in recording media…"spirit voices" that are said to manifest themselves on audio recordings. If you have seen the movie WhiteNoise you can now live it. This unusual science is used in the paranormal field and in this course you will practice EVP recording techniques, learn about helpful software and gather information to help you either confirm your belief or strengthen your skepticism.
