Bike Selection:

1.  Pick a bike that is the right size for you.
2.  Pick the right type of bike for you (Mtn., Street, Cross, Number of gears).
3.  Pick a bike that is the right price for you.

Proper Bike Setup:

1.  Set the bike up for your comfort.
2.  Pick the right accessories for the riding you do (seat, bags, lights, reflectors, bars, rain suit, luggage, camping gear, type of pedals, etc.)

Safety Accessories:

1.  For the bike:  Lights, reflectors, fenders, bells or other warning devices, mirrors.
2.  For the rider:  Helmet, gloves, knee and elbow pads, eye protection, proper footwear and clothing.
3.  Racks and other devices for transport ting the bike on or in a vehicle.

Bike Maintenance:

1.  Always do pre-ride check (tire wear and pressure and a general check of gear and the entire bike)
2.  Give the bike regular tune-ups at least once a year ( more often under severe riding conditions).
3.  Any tune-up procedures you are not qualified to do, should be done by a professional or qualified bike mechanic.

Bike Riding Tips, (and Tricks?)

1.  Don't ride above your ability (too fast, too far, too difficult terrain)
2.  Build your distance, speed and skill level gradually.
3.  Consult with your Dr. before starting your bike program (depending on age and physical condition)
4.  Join or participate in the activities of an active bike riding club.
5.  Find and take a course in mountain bike or street bike riding.
6.  If you are going to make a mistake, make it on the side of caution.
7.  Always obey all traffic laws and rules of the road.
8.  Have a great time!!!!!!!!!!
