ICC Announces Upcoming Grant Opportunities
Indiana Campus Compact (ICC) is pleased to announce their upcoming funding opportunities for the 2011-2012 academic year.

Faculty Funding Opportunities
- Alternative Break Institutional Program
Award Amount: $1,500
($1,500 from sponsor, and no institutional match required)
This award will provide one selected campuses per year with the opportunity to partner with ICC to showcase their community and campus through an Indiana-based Alternative Break program for students from other ICC campuses. Funds would support either a May break or Winter break through the selected campus.

- Scholarship of Engagement Grants
Award Amount: $3,000
($2,250 from sponsor, and $750 in institutional match)
These grants fund the integration of one of the following: service-learning into existing or new courses; community based research; or professional service activities that engage faculty and students with the community in a reciprocal campus/community partnership.

- Faculty Fellows Grants
Award Amount: $5,000
($3,750 from sponsor, and $1,250 in institutional match)
This program is a unique opportunity for full-time faculty to integrate service engagement into all aspects of their professional lives – teaching, research, and service. Funds support the teaching of a service-learning course and a professional service with a community agency. In addition, selected faculty will work with other selected Fellows as a team to design a group project.

- Sponsored Research for Service Engagement Grants
Award Amount: $5,000
($3,750 from sponsor, and $1,250 in institutional match)
Four research projects per year will be sponsored to conduct research examining the impact of service engagement and campus/community partnerships. ICC will set the parameters on what should be researched. Examples of research could include: impact of service engagement on student retention to the state post-graduation; impact of service engagement on capacity building for non-profits; impact of service engagement on workforce development.
Proposals are due April 13, 2012.

- Listening to Communities
Award Amount: $575
($400 for food, space, materials & facilitation and $56 per stipend for community partner; and $100 institutional match for food, space, materials & facilitation and $19 per stipend for community partner.)
This program supports efforts of campuses to develop strong partnerships by providing an opportunity to listen to their community partners’ reflection on two framing issues:
- How higher ed. can fulfill its goal of engaging college students with the community, and
- How higher ed. and communities can work together to strengthen public life
Proposals are accepted at any time, but must be submitted at least two (2) months prior to proposed meeting date.

- Interfaith Service Corps
Award Amount: This is a non-cash opportunity.
This is a new opportunity for the 2011-2012 academic year and is in conjunction with the current Service Engagement Corps Program. If you are interested in advising up to 3 Interfaith Service Corps members, please contact Laura Weaver to further discuss this opportunity. The Interfaith Service Corps is a partnership between Indiana Campus Compact member institutions and the Interfaith Youth Core and is aimed at accomplishing three primary objectives:
- Members will coordinate an awareness campaign centered on the power of interfaith
collaboration for the common good.
- Members will develop a sustainable network of interfaith leaders to mobilize on their
campus.
- Members will organize a campus-wide interfaith service event(s) to address an issue of
community concern.
Student Funding Opportunities
- Community Service Mini-Grants
Award Amount: up to $1,250
(up to $1,000 from sponsor, and a minimum of 25% institutional match)
These grants fund service projects that could include one-time plunge opportunities such as an annual tree planting/beautification project; living with the homeless to understand societal influences toward homelessness; or a meals-on-wheels project for the elderly and/or ill.
Proposals are due on the 15th of each month prior to the planned project. It is advised that if a project is to occur within the first week of a particular month the proposal is submitted by the 15th of the month at least 2 months in advance.

- Day of Service Student Action Grants
Award Amount: up to $1,250
(up to $1,000 from sponsor, and a minimum of 25% institutional match)
Day of Service (DoS) Action grants allow colleges and universities to have a meaningful impact on their community. ICC will offer a select number of mini-grants, up to $1,000.00 each, to support Day of Service Action events and programs on nationally recognized National Days of Service. Day of Service Action (DoS) Grants 2011-2012 Grant Applications due on the following dates:
- Make a Difference Day September 15, 2011
- Family Volunteer Day October 15, 2011
- MLK Day December 15, 2011
- Cesar Chavez Day February 15, 2012
- National Volunteer Week March 15, 2012
- Global Youth Service Day March 15, 2012
- Earth Day March 15, 2012
- Join Hands Day March 15, 2012
