Communication Opportunities

The field of communication offers students the opportunity to prepare for a wide range of careers where effective oral and written communication is essential. By combining a study of communication theory and research with an emphasis on performance, communication majors will see improvement in critical thinking, research, writing, team, interpersonal, and public speaking skills. Graduates of the program may find work in such diverse areas as organizational training and development, broadcasting, public relations, teaching, politics, law, sales, advertising, industrial management, politics, counseling, and consulting.

Internship opportunities (COM 490) are available that allow students to expand their skills in the communication area of most interest to them and get actual college credit at the same time they are receiving valuable on-the-job experience.

The Voice, PNC's student newspaper, offers many opportunities to students to develop old skills and learn new ones. Areas of opportunity include reporting, writing, photography, editing, copy layout, advertising, and much more.
