Old Business:
The website for Psychology Club has been completed by Camie and Troy Tyler. A big thank you is in order. It looks great!

Halloween Party, October 27, 2005 was a success. There were approximately 50 attendees. Annette would like those who participated from the club to give some feedback. Pictures were taken of the event/activities.
Psi Chi Update - The review process for PNC eligibility is continuing. Dr. Urschel e-mailed Psi Chi the information they requested regarding psychology course requirements, et al.

Mary Beth Mitchell has offered and been approved to assist Dr. Joanne Urschel in organizing research to be done each year by the Psychology club with it’s members. We hope to get this off the ground in January, 2006.

Gifts of Love Holiday Project: Kristina Ray has offered to chair this project. Philosophy Club wants to join in on the project. Gift items desired are new clothing, (a list will be made available w/size), health and beauty aids and toys.
The two facilities which will receive our donations are Porter-Starke, Valparaiso, and Madison Center in Michigan City. The Madison Center has agreed to match donations one-for-one.
Annette Meadows submitted a proposal for a $1,000 grant for this project today. A sample of the grant was attached to today’s agenda. Annette will be meeting with the director of Madison Center this Thursday, November 3, 2005 to find out sizes and gender of recipients of the Gifts of Love Program.
The Trio Club has offered to donate any excess toys or beauty products they receive during their toy drive on campus.
Camie presented the information she had regarding the various religious holiday customs i.e. Hanukkah, Advent, etc. Then she assigned each club member one specific group to research and bring back a small history of this custom along with a symbol representing each religious group. These will be distributed to the recipients of the Gift of Love Project. The idea is to promote understanding and tolerance of different religious beliefs and customs. Annette suggested having any activity for the younger children to do would also be appropriate.
Annette will submit an article to school newspaper on the Gifts of Love Project, so that the entire student body will be informed.
Patricia requested a formal letter to present to her employer for donations. Annette suggested also taking letters to staff/faculty of PNC to make them aware of how they can adopt a child from Porter-Starke or Madison Center for this gift-giving project.
Fundraisers:
Picture Albums: We need to set up a table for sales of these in the future.
Dr. Urschel suggested wrapping holiday purchases for Smart Fun Toys in Valparaiso as a community service, with tips being donated to the club.
Annette contacted Fazoli’s who said they had not allowed anyone to serve breadsticks as a fundraiser for a long time. Also, Barnes & Nobles in Valparaiso said they didn’t offer a gift wrapping service. Annette will call again and talk with the store manager to confirm this.
Annette urges all attendees to return to our next meeting, November 16, 7 p.m. with ideas for a spring fundraiser. Psychology Club Minutes October 31, 2005 - 2:30 p.m. Page 3
