Psychology Club Minutes October 3, 2005 - LSF 19 - 2:30 p.m.
Motion was made, seconded and carried to call the meeting to order.
In attendance were:
Annette T. Meadows, President Dr. Joanne Urschel, Sponsor Camie Tyler, Vice President Debbie Hager Jeanne Sanders, Secretary Dawn Harzula
Today’s agenda was approved by all members.
Reviewed the meeting minutes from September 21, 2005. Some corrections need to be made so these will be presented for approval at our next meeting, October 19, 2005.
President’s Report:
The Review Board for Psi Chi continues the approval for the PNC Charter. We should receiving a letter of intent regarding the honor society and then plans will be made to have an induction service along with a dinner program.
Vice President’s Report:
Camie and her husband, Troy, worked on the Psychology Club website. It will have our mission statement, a link to download the constitution, a link to APA, along with meeting minutes and planned events, etc.
Treasurer’s Report:
This was given by Annette in the absence of our treasurer, Joe. Someone had anonymously made a $50.00 donation to the club to be used for the Pine Ridge Reservation Project. A group is planning to go to the reservation on fall break to deliver items from the Christmas Tree fundraiser (Tech. Bldg). Annette purchased cleaning supplies, large container and womens sweater to be donated to an individual named Georgiana.
Old Business:
T-shirts: A sign up sheet, with sizes desired, was passed around for ordering our club T-shirts.
In-Service: The Grad School In-Service is scheduled for October 13, 2005, at 5:00 p.m. in LSF 2. Mary Beth Mitchell will be presenting a power point presentation with direct link to the Internet. Annette will bring some books specifically related to the GRE testing, and information on the schools that offer Master Degree programs in psychology and social work.

Dr. Scipes: Annette presented the babysitting services of PNC to Dr. Scipes and his wife, but he did not approve of using the university’s child care center. A motion was made to take funds out of our account for babysitting but it was not carried. Dr. Urschel will call Mrs. Scipes personally.
Community Service Projects: Collection boxes were approved for collecting yarns, hooks, fiberfill, etc. for the RSVP project and will be placed outside cafeteria, Tech. Bldg. near learning center and in Schwartz by the vending machine room. This project is approved to go on October 6 through October 20, 2005. Dawn will write up article for campus newsletter. Dawn will need help in delivering these goods to RSVP later this month.
Children for the Holidays Project: We will be targeting this project for November. Annette will call 2 facilities and get names, ages, and gift ideas for the recipients. December 7, Weds night at 7:00 pm. will be set aside to wrap these gifts by all the Psychology Club members.
Duties are designated as follows: Annette -- supply pizzas Jeanne -- bring pop Joanne -- bring gift wrap
The gifts will be delivered during the week of finals, December 12-16, 2005.
Fundraiser Ideas: We could offer Barnes & Noble our club services to wrap their customers purchases on a given date. The stores provide the wrap. Annette will call to investigate this possibility.
Also Fazoli’s will allow people to come in and serve breadsticks to their customers, and donate a percentage of their profits made during that 4 hours to the servers’ charity.
New Business:
Halloween Party: A campus Halloween Party is scheduled to be held on October 27, 2005 for staff and faculty children. We will have a table set up for Psychology Club and have a game, Bozo’s Brains. Prizes and treats will be given. Joanne will order more glow snap necklaces.

Katrina Efforts: Camie reports that Mrs. Barker in Student Support Services is going to Mississippi area during fall break, so if anyone wants to donate bleach, cleaning supplies, or diapers. Jeanne made a motion to donate the money our club collected at Purdue Pride week booth to buy 1 pkg of adult diapers and 1 pkg of infant diapers. Camie seconded the motion and it was carried.
The meeting was adjourned at 3:20 p.m.
