Anita E. Allison

Anita Allison, M.Ed., is the Early Childhood Technical Assistance Coordinator for the Indiana State Improvement Grant funded by the Indiana Department of Education, Center for Exceptional Learners. Anita received her BA in Early Childhood Education from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College in Indiana and completed her M.Ed. in Early Childhood Special Education, with an emphasis in consulting and administration from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She has been providing training and technical assistance to early care and education professionals for 22 years, working at the Quality Improvement Center for Disabilities at the University of Illinois, the Indiana Association for Child Care Resource and Refferal and the Indiana Department of Education. Anita's areas of expertise include assessing the quality of early childhood environments using the ECERS-R, training and consultation, supporting children in inclusive environments and working with young children with challenging behaviors. She is an advocate for quality care and education for our youngest and most vulnerable children.

Adopting the Teaching Pyramid to Support the Social Emotional Competence of Young Children

Participants will learn of an evidence based model to support the development of social emotional competence. The model will provide a framework of effect practices for early care and education professionas by which they can prevent challenging behavior while promoting childrens' social and emotional development.
