Jackie Covault: Former elementary teacher of grades 1-4. Former PNC Master teacher in residence. Currently, pursuing PHD in Literacy and Language, Director of Field Experience and teacher of EDCI 363.
Maria Surma: Former high school chemistry teacher, Montessori classroom assistant, current elementary science teacher, St. Johns Lutheran School, LaPorte. Science methods instructor (PNC) and Mom of 2. B.A. from Valparaiso University, MS ED from Purdue University.
Joyful Science: Tree Homes |
Participants will be introduced to the Great Explorations in math and science (GEMS) program through the “Tree Homes” unit. There will be active involvement in selected activities from the guide. “Tree Homes” is designed to familiarize your children (pre-school-grade 1) with trees and their importance to the survival of many animals. Life science, math and physical science activities are integrated with language arts, art and music , experiences in hands-on ways for students to investigate.
