Joy Dirks is a graduate of McKendree University in Lebanon, IL. She earned her Masters in Education from Indiana University Northwest. Joy has taught elementary music, developmental kindergarten, traditional kindergarten and first grade. She retired after a total of 34 years of teaching with the last 21 years teachng in the Valparaiso community schools.

Nursery Rhymes for Literacy Times

This session will enlighten early childhood educators on ways to connect easy nursery rhymes (i.e. Mother Goose) with emergent literacy skills. The instruction suggestions comply with the components specifically outlined in the Indiana Literacy Framework..
