Campus Regulations
Telephones
Public telephones for student use are located in the main lobbies of all three buildings. Each building is equipped with a wheelchair-accessible and hearing-aid-compatible pay phone. Calls to LaPorte and Westville are toll-free. Michigan City and Valparaiso are long distance. Telephones in the administrative offices are not for use by students for placing or receiving calls. The office staff has been instructed not to call students to the phone except in cases of extreme emergencies. The Campus Police Office in SWRZ 38 has a telephone students may use for emergencies only. Calls to other Purdue campuses concerning academic business may be placed for students in the Registrar's Office (SWRZ 40).
The Gold Book
The Gold Book is a special gold notebook containing policies of Purdue University and Purdue University North Central which are relevant to students. These notebooks are available for student reference and are located in the Library, the Dean of Students Office, Student Support Services, academic section offices and in other administrative offices on campus.
Canvassing, Peddling, Soliciting
Canvassing, peddling, and soliciting of any product or service on any part of the PU/NC Campus is prohibited. Individuals not representing student organizations who seek exemptions to this regulation are considered representatives of outside agencies and must follow the procedures established for granting outside agencies exemptions. This type of exemption may be obtained through the Vice Chancellor for Business and Administrative Services (SWRZ 145).
Posting Of Signs
Specific areas in the hallways of each building are set aside for the posters and signs. These may be attached with masking tape only after securing permission from the Dean of Students Office (LSF 103).
Posters and signs will be limited in size to 36 x 48 inches or smaller; permission to post larger signs must be secured from the Student Government Executive Committee. The use of chrome sign holders in the main floor entrance hall of Schwarz Hall is restricted to official administrative notices; however, chrome sign holders may be requested from the Director of Physical Plant (SWRZ 35) for use of student activity notices, subject to their availability.
Student organizations must remove their signs within 24 hours after the activity for which the sign has been posted.
Skateboards and Roller Blades
Skateboarding and rollerblading are prohibited on the campus. This includes sidewalks and parking lots.
Firearms
Possession and/or use of firearms is strictly prohibited on campus property unless authorized by the Campus Police Department.
