Firebanks
represents Barry Tinsley's re-entry into the use of steel as a
sculptural medium. The red painted piece suggests a gateway to
another dimension. Firebanks is relatively modest in size
compared to the large scale in which Tinsley is known to work.
The piece provides a somewhat surprising burst of attention, as
it comes into view on Highway 421.
Tinsley
is developing a workspace in New Carlisle, aside from his
residence in Chicago. His work has been seen at Pier Walk for
many years.
