OCTOBER SINAI FORUM FEATURES JONATHAN RAUCH
The 56 th season of the Sinai Forum Presented by Purdue University North Central will feature noted writer and columnist Jonathan Rauch, on Oct. 18 at 7 p.m. at Elston Middle School .
Rauch will speak on the topic, “Government in 2020: Bankrupt or Reborn?” and will present a look at what the economy will look like in 2020 and the long-term effects of the current economic recession.
As a senior writer and columnist for the “National Journal” magazine and correspondent for “Atlantic Monthly,” Rauch has authored several books and a multitude of articles on public policy, culture and economics. He is also a writer in residence at the Brookings Institution and was a visiting writer with “The Economist” of London . Rauch has been described as an “ original and incisive social commentator.”
His writings have explored domestic and foreign economic issues and institutions, politics, government and agriculture.
As an author, Rauch has addressed a myriad of topics - “Gay Marriage: Why It Is Good for Gays, Good for Straights, and Good for America ;” “Government's End: Why Washington Stopped Working;” “Demosclerosis: The Silent Killer of American Government;” “Kindly Inquisitors: The New Attacks on Free Thought” and “The Outnation: A Search for the Soul of Japan.”
A book signing will follow Rauch's presentation.
