PNC Faculty Member Earns Award
WESTVILLE – Purdue University North Central faculty member, Dr. Judy Serwatka, associate professor of Computer Technology, was recently recognized with the Distinguished Leadership award for 2004 by the Network and Systems Professionals Association (NaSPA).
This award is presented to individuals to honor their service contributions to NaSPA and society. Serwatka was elected to the board of directors in 2002 and has served as NaSPA Director of Education, she was the Keynote Speaker at the NaSPA Education Conference in October, 2003, and contributed articles to the NaSPA journals “Network Support” and “Technical Support”. Serwatka authored the textbook "Business Data Communications: Introductory Concepts and Techniques" (currently in its 4th edition), a textbook about computer networks.
Serwatka was the first educator elected to the NaSPA board. While she offers her academic and university perspective with the board, she also shares the knowledge and insight gained from dealing with board members who are computer networking professional with her students. Plus, she has years of experience with distance education and has helped NaSPA implement a distance education program for its members.
