PNC Student Awarded Phi Eta Sigma Scholarship
WESTVILLE – Purdue University North Central student J. Athena Evan of Valparaiso, was recently awarded a scholarship by the Phi Eta Sigma national honor society.
Evan was inducted in the Purdue North Central chapter of the scholastic honor society in May 2006 and will serve as chapter president for the 2007 – 08 academic year.
Phi Eta Sigma is a national scholastic honor society that was founded in 1923 to encourage and recognize high scholastic achievement among university freshmen students. Its membership is open to all freshmen who have a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale. Phi Eta Sigma is the third most senior member of the Association of College Honor Societies. Lifetime membership is conferred upon induction.
Evan is member of the PNC Chancellor’s Leadership Group and she has consistently been named to the semester scholastic honors lists.
