PNC Cheerleaders, Lifters, Dancers and Mascot Tryouts
Westville – Purdue University North Central students will have tryouts for cheerleaders, lifters, dancers and mascot Pounce on May 30 and June 6 at 8:30 a.m. in the Library-Student-Faculty Building Assembly Hall, Room 02.
Tryouts will last for most of the day and are expected to end about 2 to 4 p.m. Those selected for the squad will be asked to stay for a short meeting following the tryouts. All cheerleaders, lifters, dancers and mascot must have a physical. Physicals are offered on campus in the fall at a cost of $30.
Those trying out should bring with them proof of enrollment such as their PNC registration and class schedule and a letter of recommendation from previous coach that includes their grade-point-average and any dance, stunting, gymnastic and cheering experience.
Cheerleaders are considered part of athletics and must adhere to certain standards of academics and be full-time students with a minimum load of 12 credit hours. Lifters, dancers and mascot may be part-time students. Experience is necessary for cheerleaders and dancers and experience preferred for lifters, but those skills can be taught to those who are willing to learn. No baggy clothing is to be worn for cheerleading or dance performances.
All squad members receive PNC Fitness Center privileges and may apply during the spring semester for a Chancellor's Leadership Award of $500 per semester. Information and applications available in the PNC Dean of Students Office.
