PNC Faculty Member Chosen for Senior Specialists Program
WESTVILLE – Dr. Tantatape Brahmasrene, professor of Business at Purdue University North Central, has been selected for participation in the Fulbright Senior Specialists Program. He will help the Ryskulov Kazakh Economic University (KAZEU) in creation of a western model Ph.D. program in business economics and in the development and assessment of academic curricula.
The Council for International Exchange of Scholars (CIES), under a cooperative agreement with the United States Department of State, administers the Fulbright Scholar Program for faculty and professionals. The Senior Specialists Program offers short-term grants of two to six weeks. The CIES builds lists of qualified specialist candidates and matches senior specialist candidates with project requests.
KAZEU, located in Almaty, Kazakhstan in central Asia, requested a specialist from the Council for International Exchange of Scholars for assistance. Brahmasrene’s proposal was selected and approved by KAZEU and the US Embassy in Kazakhstan. He will be a Fulbright Senior Specialist on this project for four to five weeks during June and mid-August.
Additional responsibilities will include developing blended or hybrid courses in business and economics and the presentation of lectures at the graduate and undergraduate levels.
"Having direct exposure to Kazakhstan will enhance my awareness of its economy, social institutions, and its citizens’ perception of the world. My enhanced awareness in this country will change the way I filter information. The effect of my experiences gained from visiting KAZEU will be the start of a journey that enriches my collaborative efforts in teaching and research," said Brahmasrene.
Brahmasrene was a former 2001 J. William Fulbright Senior Scholar and a 2003 Fulbright Senior Specialist (Thailand).
