PNC, Libraries to Host “Away We Go” Film Screenings
WESTVILLE – Public showings of the film "Away We Go” will be offered through a collaboration among the Purdue University North Central Odyssey 2009 - 2010 Arts and Cultural Events Series, LaPorte County Public Library and Michigan City Public Library. The showings are free and open to the public.
The film will be shown on Sunday, Nov. 15 at 2 p.m. at the Michigan City Public Library, 100 E. Fourth St. , Michigan City ; Tuesday, Nov. 17 at 6 p.m. in the LaPorte Library, 904 Indiana Ave. , LaPorte and on Wednesday, Nov. 18 at 7 p.m. at PNC in the Library-Student-Faculty Building Assembly Hall Room 02. The film is rated R for language and some sexual content.
“Away We Go” is the story of a young couple expecting their first child who travel the U.S. in search of the ideal place to put down roots. Roger Ebert gave the film 3 1/2 stars and described it as “a film for nice people to see.” During their travels, the couple stops to see his self-absorbed parents, her alcoholic former boss, his rigid childhood friend, their unhappily married college friends and his brother whose wife just left him.
“The New York Times” describe the film stars Maya Rudolph and John Krasinski as being appealing, unaffected performers” and the film's writing as having “humor and charm.”
