Purdue North Central New Student Orientation Is Aug. 22, 2009
WESTVILLE – “The Tradition Begins With U” is the theme for Purdue University North Central's Student Orientation, set for Saturday, Aug. 22, from 9:00 a.m. to noon at the PNC campus.
The orientation session will give new students an opportunity to become more knowledgeable about the PNC campus and college life. This event is intended for all new students, along with their families and friends. Fall classes begin Aug. 24.
“New student orientation is a fun and inviting experience for students and their guests to learn about the many academic and extra-curricular events students can be involved in while attending PNC. Many networking opportunities will be available. Students will have the opportunity to directly connect with their department faculty, explore club opportunities and meet other students in a casual setting before their classes begin,” said Keri Marrs Barrón, director of Student Activities and orientation chairperson.
This year's orientation will feature a convocation ceremony along with a “Making College Count” presentation. Incoming students and family members will have an opportunity to visit information tables for academic sections, student organizations, and athletics. Faculty members, student organization representatives, and athletic coaches will be available to talk with students and their families.
Students are encouraged to ask questions, get to know the key people on campus and become familiar with the PNC buildings and classrooms, so they can ease their transition to becoming PNC students.
“Regardless of August weather, the morning will be exciting, informative and welcoming. It is a must for new students and their parents,” Marrs Barrón said.
The event is free, but registration is requested. For more information contact Janice Whisler, at 785-5200, ext. 5415.
