PNC Offers Master of Business Administration Degree
WESTVILLE – The Purdue University North Central Department of Business now offers a Master of Business Administration degree that will prepare students for leadership positions in a variety of business and professional settings. Classes will begin in the Fall semester, 2005. Prospective students may begin the admissions process now.
“The MBA has become the recognized credential for leaders throughout business and industry. This is a tremendous opportunity for the residents of Northwest Indiana to earn a degree that will open countless career opportunities,” said Dr. James Pula, PNC vice chancellor for academic affairs. “The Purdue MBA is recognized worldwide for its excellence.”
The MBA class schedule is designed to meet the needs of working adults, said Dr. Andrew Weiss, chair of the PNC Department of Business. Classes will be offered on Saturdays. Weiss explained that the program format is designed so that some students will be able to complete their degrees in as little as 15 months.
Classes will meet at the PNC Valparaiso Academic Center (VAC) where students will utilize state-of-the-art educational and business technology and have full access to the University libraries, online resources, computer systems and other forms of academic support. All faculty members are certified by the Graduate School in West Lafayette and are supported by the full teaching resources of Purdue University.
Students may apply for the MBA program regardless of their baccalaureate field. Applicants will be required to have a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university and must take the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) for admission to the program.
“In the MBA program at Purdue North Central, students will hone their skills in essential areas such as critical thinking, organizing, problem solving, communicating, budgeting, planning, supervising, leading and team building,” said Weiss.
“The classes will bring together students from a variety of business and professional settings. This presents a tremendous opportunity to broaden one’s learning opportunities as students can share experiences and develop a network of resources for the future.”
