PNC “Rice & Beans” Lunch and Fundraiser for Haiti

Westville – The Purdue University North Central Brownbag Diversity Series and Multicultural Club in Celebration of Black History Month will present a “Rice & Beans” lunch and fundraiser for the Haiti earthquake victims on Feb. 8, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Library-Student-Faculty Building , Room 144

Rice and beans is the staple meal in most Latin American and Caribbean countries. The lunch is free and attendees are asked to consider donating what they may have spent on buying their lunch that day to the Multicultural Club/American Red Cross Haitian Relief Effort.

There will be a presentation, "What the World Owes Haiti" led by Kenneth Kincaid, assistant professor of History. A discussion period will follow.

Handmade jewelry from Peru will be available for purchase with all proceeds also going to the relief effort.

All donations will be forwarded to the American Red Cross and help provide food, water and medical attention to those whose lives were devastated by the January 12 earthquake.

For more information, contact Kincaid at kkincaid@pnc.edu or Bob Mellin, continuing lecturer of English, at bmellin@pnc.edu.
