PNC Offers “Silent Lunches”
WESTVILLE – Purdue University North Central American Sign Language Club invites students and members of the community to attend “Silent Lunches” that will be offered throughout the academic year.
The Silent Lunches are intended to be a means for students and community members to get together to communicate using only American Sign Language (ASL). This is an ideal opportunity to practice ASL in a social setting and a way to meet others interested in learning and expanding their ASL skills.
The group will gather in the PNC Cafeteria in the Library-Student-Faculty Building and will generally try to sit near the main cafeteria entrance to be visible.
The September Silent Lunches will be: Tuesday, Sept. 8; Wednesday, Sept. 16; Tuesday, Sept. 22 and Wednesday, Sept. 30. All lunches are from noon to 12:45 p.m.
Further information may be obtained by contacting Karen Donah, continuing lecturer and coordinator of American Sign Language, at 785-5200, ext. 5432 or kdonah@pnc.edu. Persons with disabilities requiring accommodations should contact Donah.
