PNC American Sign Language Club Silent Dinner

Westville – Purdue University North Central American Sign Language Club will host a Silent Dinner on Monday, Dec. 7 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Culver's Restaurant, 3966 Frontage Road , Michigan City . The event is open to ASL students as well as all community members.

This is a h oliday "Meet & Greet" and participants are asked to use ASL only for conversation and to place orders – a student may translate orders into English for the server or participants may point to the menu or write out an order. This is an opportunity to use ASL for conversation. Participants can be ASL beginners or fluent, or simply interested in knowing more. Participants may order a complete meal, or just order coffee or drinks, or may come to socialize. Children and their parents are welcome

ASL club officers and ASL faculty will have vouchers available to everyone who is ordering food and beverage at this event. Culver's will donate a percentage of all orders placed with those vouchers to the PNC ASL Club. Participants are reminded that they do not need to order a meal in order to attend. The ASL Club members will also be accepting donations for a fundraising effort to sponsor a deaf child attending a deaf camp this summer.

Further information about ASL at Purdue North Central and the ASL Club may be obtained by contacting Karen Donah, PNC continuing lecturer and Coordinator of American Sign Language, at 785-5200, ext. 5432 or kdonah@pnc.edu . Persons with disabilities requiring accommodations should contact Donah.
