PNC American Sign Language Club Silent Dinner

Westville – Purdue University North Central American Sign Language Club will host a Silent Dinner on Monday, April 27 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Culver's Restaurant, 3966 Frontage Road , Michigan City . The event is open to ASL students as well as all community members, including children accompanied by a parent.

Silent Dinner participants are asked to use ASL only for conversation and to place orders – a student may translate orders into English for the server or participants may point to the menu or write out an order. Participants are reminded that they do not need to order a meal in order to attend.

This is an opportunity to use ASL for conversation. Participants can be ASL beginners or fluent, or simply interested in knowing more.

ASL club officers and ASL faculty will have vouchers available to everyone who is ordering food and beverage at this event. Culver's Restaurant will donate a percentage of all orders placed with those vouchers to the PNC ASL Club. Proceeds from the event will be donated to the ASL Club fundraising effort to send deaf or hard-of- hearing children to attend summer camp at sponsored by Indiana Deaf Camps, Inc., where Sign Language is the campers' primary language. Donations will also be accepted.
