Academic Internships
Several degree programs at PNC offer academic internships. An academic internship is a form of experiential education that integrates knowledge and theory learned in the classroom with practical application and skill development in a professional setting. Students earn academic credit, or there is some other connection to a degree program. Here are some of the programs at PNC that offer Academic Internships:

Experiential Internships
Experiential Internships allow the student to apply practical knowledge and skills in a professional setting. The "internship" is not based on any critical reflection and is not connected to academic studies. These types of internships may vary in length and are generally paid experiences based upon the guidelines under the Fair Labor Standards Act.

Some Featured Internship Opportunities

Indiana House of Representatives is now accepting applications for the Spring 2011 term. Application deadline is October 31, 2010. Applications can be submitted online by visiting House Democrats or House Republicans. Opportunities exist in several exciting areas! Candidates must be a junior, senior, graduate student or recent graduate.

The White House Internship Programis now accepting applications for the Spring 2011 term. All applicants need to have three (3) letters of recommendation for this public service internship. Application deadline is October 3, 2010.

The U.S. Energy Information Administration. This paid opportunity is open to students from all disciplines, particularly for those with majors in Economics, Statistics, Engineering, Operations Research, Business/Finance, Information Technology, Communications, Marketing, Journalism and Web Development.

Path, Inc. is accepting applicants for their Internship Program. Path, A Positive Approach to Teen Health, is a local non-profit organization that has internship opportunities for students to obtain real world experience working with teens and parents on positive approaches to issues like drugs, sex and other relevant teen issues. Paid Student Fellowship Program Seeking Applicants-The Journey Fellowship for Students is a comprehensive program offering personal grounding and professional immersion experiences to college students pursuing careers working with youth. Student Fellows have the opportunity to work and serve in non‐profit and faith‐based youth serving organizations.

Pathways to Science Undergraduate Research Opportunities - these opportunities are based in the Midwest, however interested candidates can choose other geographic areas of interest.

Considering a Career in Public Health Research? The Emerging Infectious Diseases (EID) Laboratory Fellowship Program prepares laboratory scientists for careers in public health. This program is co-sponsored by the Association of Public Health Laboratories and the Center for Disease Control & Prevention.

Governor's Office interns
The Office of the Governor is always looking for volunteer/interns. Their budget right now is strapped, but they would like students who could give 2 to 4 hours at a time to help with administrative duties. Additional responsibilities would depend upon their personal abilities.
